Apparently they decided to skip classes like that.. They came to a building.. Which resembled a military school. When they got there, they saw a queue! Apparently a lot of people are interested in this poster. They had to sign some consent papers. ”
“ hm.. So we can't leave here at any time?.. Everything is as scheduled as at school.. “ said Bernadate.
“ booooring! But.. Whatever! I'll sign the papers anyway and stay here. “ said August . He think that it will be very interesting there!
“ Wherever you go, I go. “ Franz said . He always goes with his friends, he never goes alone.
” They signed the papers and went on to explore this building. There were military men there.. Some even had injuries! Creepy.. There were dormitories where the military lived together, there were three people in one room. August, Franz and Bernadate will be in the same room together! ”
“ Morning, the first training session was successful. Franz stood out among the newcomers with his excellent skills. After training the trio went to take backpacks with supplies, bandanas. Then they went to the armory to get a gun. “
“ hey.. I start think that its not the best idea “ said August, why was he scared?
“ come on, we can't give up right at the beginning. “ said Bernadette.
“ right... “
Franz said nothing, he was just quiet.
After several days of intense training, the three friends gradually began to get used to the routine of the military school. However, the tension was growing - the requirements became more and more stringent, and the tasks were becoming more and more difficult.
Morning, May 10.
Franz, as usual, got up before everyone else. He looked out the window and thought about it. He always had a strong personality, but even he began to wonder why they came here. He noticed that Bernadette and August also began to change. August became more closed and often looked tense, and Bernadette lost her usual lightness and smile.
All three of them met in the dining room for breakfast.
«Have you noticed how serious everything is here?» August began, carefully looking around. «It seems that this is not just a training anymore. It’s something more.»
«Yes, but we signed these papers ourselves,» Bernadette replied, trying to seem confident. «We have pledged to participate.»
«Are you committed? We didn’t even know we were signing!» August got angry. «I thought it would be something like a summer camp with military games, but here... Here we are taught how to shoot, how to survive!»
Franz ate silently, without interfering in the conversation. He understood that it was pointless to argue now.
After breakfast, they were sent to the next task - a march-throw with full equipment. It was the most difficult day since their arrival. Under the scorching sun, overcoming a difficult track, friends began to realize how serious everything was.
When they returned to the barracks, August fell on the bed, barely breathing.
«I can’t anymore... It’s too much,» he muttered.
Bernadette sat down on his bed, wiping the sweat from his face. «Maybe we’ll find a way to go back home? We haven’t been told yet that we have to stay forever.»
At that moment, Franz, who had been silent until now, finally spoke:
«Do you really think it’s that simple? Have you seen those people with injuries? They are clearly not beginners. Something is wrong here. We are being prepared not just for training, but for something more.»
All three fell silent, realizing that Franz might be right.
The next day they were taken to the shooting range. The exercises became more and more difficult, and the situation became more and more tense. This time the instructor announced that they will compete in pairs. Franz and Bernadette were in the same team, and August joined another newcomer.
During the shooting, Franz again demonstrated his outstanding abilities, hitting the targets with amazing accuracy. Bernadette tried to keep up, but it was difficult for her to concentrate. August, on the contrary, became more and more nervous with each shot.
When the exercise was over, the instructor approached them.
«Franz, you’re good. You have talent. And you two,» he glanced at Bernadette and August, «you need to try harder. In a real situation, your indecision can cost you your life.»
These words made all three of them think.
In the evening, sitting in their room, they discussed what had happened.
«Franz, you’re really good,» Bernadette said. «But I’m not sure I want to continue. I’m scared.»
«Me too,» August added. «I’m not sure we got out of school for this. I just want to go home.»
Franz sighed. «I understand you. But it seems that we have gone too far. If we just go away, who knows what they will do to us? We have to be careful.»
And from that moment on, their purpose has changed. They didn’t want to just get trained anymore. Now they were looking for a way to get out of this place and return to their normal life.
But what awaits them next? Will they be able to find a way out, or will this place change them forever?
The next morning, the friends were awakened by a sharp voice over the loudspeaker. It was their commander, announcing something unusual:
"Everyone line up on the parade ground immediately! We have an important announcement!"
Franz, Bernadette, and August exchanged worried glances.
"Something is wrong here," Bernadette said, adjusting his belt. "I have a feeling this is going to be something serious."
"Yeah, and I don't like it," August muttered, still tired from yesterday's training.
Franz, calm as always, stood up first. "We can't change anything. We have to go."
When they arrived at the parade ground, there was already a crowd of recruits standing there. A tall officer in full dress uniform appeared on the platform. His face was stern, and his voice was clear and loud.
"Soldiers!" he began. "Today is the moment you are here for. We are going to the front. Your training is complete, and now you will show what you have learned. The Motherland awaits your actions!"
The crowd began to buzz. Some looked confident, others were clearly in shock.
"To the front?!" August whispered, his face pale. "We have only just begun training! We are not ready!"
"We must pull ourselves together," Bernadette answered firmly. "We knew this would happen sooner or later. We will cope."
Franz was silent. His face remained impassive, but inside he felt the same as his friends. They were just teenagers who wanted adventure, and now they were about to face real war.
A few hours later, the recruits were already sitting in trucks, heading for the front lines. The road was long and tense. No one said a word. Only the roar of the engines broke the silence.
When they arrived, the sun was setting, painting the sky red and orange. The atmosphere was heavy. The dull sounds of artillery and distant explosions could be heard everywhere.
They were placed in a camp, where an officer gave them a short briefing.
"Your unit will be participating in a reconnaissance mission. It is dangerous, but extremely important. You must be prepared for anything."
Franz, Bernadette, and August were placed in a group. They were given a map, a radio, and extra gear.
"Bernadette, you will go ahead. You are the most attentive of us," Franz said, studying the map.
"Understood," Bernadette replied with a serious expression.
August looked nervous, but tried not to show it. "What if we meet the enemy?" he asked, clutching his weapon.
"Then we will act according to the situation," Franz said calmly. "We are a team, and we will cope. The main thing is to stick together."
They moved deeper into the forest, where their mission would take place. The night was dark, and every rustle made them wary. Bernadette walked ahead, moving silently through the trees.
Suddenly he raised his hand, signaling a halt.
"Something ahead," he whispered.
Franz came closer. In the distance, lights were visible - it was the enemy camp.
"We need to find out their position and return," Franz said.
"Go closer? It's dangerous," August muttered, but he followed the others.
They approached the camp, trying to stay in the shadows. Bernadette listened carefully, trying to catch the enemy's conversation.
"They are preparing to attack," he whispered. "They have more soldiers than us. We need to report this quickly."
But at that moment, one of the enemy noticed movement. There was a cry, and shooting began.
"Run!" " shouted Franz, opening fire to cover his friends.
Bernadette and August rushed back into the forest, but the enemy was chasing them.
"We won't get far if they follow us!" shouted Bernadette.
"We have to stop them!" replied Franz.
They took cover behind the trees and began firing back. Franz, as always, proved himself an excellent marksman, hitting his targets accurately. Bernadette and August, although scared, fought with all their might.
After a few minutes of fighting, the enemy retreated.
"We did it," said August, breathing heavily.
"But this is only the beginning," replied Bernadette.
They returned to their camp and reported what they had seen. The officer praised them for their courage, but warned them that even greater trials lay ahead.
From that moment on, the three friends realized that their lives had changed forever.
The next morning, after their successful battle, the friends felt more confident. However, the atmosphere in the camp remained tense. The commander gathered all the fighters and announced their plans for the day. "Today we will carry out operations to strengthen positions. Be careful - the enemy can try to avenge his losses."
Bernadette, Franz and August worked together, strengthening the trenches and installing additional protective structures. August, although full of determination, still felt fear and anxiety. "I can't shake off this feeling," he confessed to his friends. "It seems like something bad is going to happen."
"Don't think about it," Franz said, trying to calm him down. "We are strong, and we will cope with any difficulties."
As they worked together, the sun rose higher in the sky, casting shadows over the makeshift camp. Franz remained mostly silent, focused on his task. He was the type to let his actions speak for him, preferring to express his thoughts through hard work rather than words. His friends had come to appreciate this about him; they knew that when he did speak, it was worth listening to.
Bernadette, on the other hand, was more serious and contemplative. He often found himself lost in thought, reflecting on the battles they had fought and the losses they had endured. As they reinforced the defenses, he felt the weight of responsibility pressing down on him. "We must stay vigilant," he said, his brow furrowed in concentration. "We can’t afford to let our guard down, not after what happened."
August, ever the optimist, tried to lighten the mood. "Come on, Bernadette! We’ve accomplished so much already! Look at these trenches!" He gestured enthusiastically at their work, a wide smile on his face. "We’re making this place safer every day! Together, we can face anything!"
However, as the day wore on, August’s bravado began to wane. Deep inside, he couldn’t shake the lingering feeling of dread that had settled in his chest. The echoes of their last battle haunted him, and he found it increasingly difficult to maintain his usual cheerful demeanor. "I just can’t help but feel that something’s off," he admitted, his voice shaking slightly. "What if the enemy is planning something big? What if we’re not ready?"
Franz, who had been listening quietly, finally spoke up. "Worrying won’t change anything," he said, his tone flat but firm. "We prepare. That’s what we can control." His words carried a weight that resonated with both of his friends. They knew he didn’t say much, but when he did, it often cut through the noise of their fears.
Bernadette nodded, appreciating Franz’s practicality. "He’s right, August. We have to stay focused on our work. If we let fear take over, it will only hinder us." His serious nature meant he was often the one trying to keep everyone grounded, reminding them of the realities they faced.
As the trio continued their labor, the sun began to set, casting an orange glow over the camp. August took a deep breath, trying to shake off his fears. "I know we’re strong together," he said, forcing a smile. "We’ve faced so much already. We can’t let fear win."
But deep inside, a storm was brewing. That evening, as they sat around a small fire, the atmosphere felt heavy with unspoken thoughts. Bernadette stared into the flames, contemplating their future. "Tomorrow is another day," he said quietly. "We need to be prepared for anything."
Franz nodded, his gaze fixed on the fire. For him, the silence spoke volumes. He didn’t need to verbalize his agreement; they all understood the stakes. They needed to be ready, to stand strong in the face of whatever lay ahead.
August, still trying to maintain his positivity, added, "And no matter what happens, we have each other. That counts for something, right?" His attempt at levity was met with a shared look between Bernadette and Franz, a silent acknowledgment of their bond.
As the night wore on, they each retreated into their own thoughts. Bernadette remained serious, contemplating their battles and losses. Franz was silent, processing the weight of their situation, while August fought against the creeping sadness that threatened to consume him.
In that moment, they realized that while their lives had changed forever, so too had their friendship. They were bound not just by their shared experiences but by the understanding that they needed to rely on one another in order to survive the dark times ahead.
The next morning, as soon as the first rays of the sun broke through the clouds, a tense silence reigned in the camp. Bernadette, Franz and August woke up, each of them faced their own thoughts and fears. Bernadette, still absorbed in the seriousness of the situation, was the first to get up and start packing his things. His face reflected determination, but a shadow of anxiety slipped in his eyes.
Franz, as always, remained silent. He quickly pulled himself together and started his morning duties, not being distracted by conversations. His calmness calmed the others a little, although August still felt that his inner fear did not leave him.
“Bernadette, do you think they can really attack today?”August asked, trying to hide the trembling in his voice. He was full of hope, but fear of a possible threat still tormented his consciousness.
“If they are going to attack, we must be ready,”Bernadette replied, his voice was firm, but he could feel anxiety growing in his chest.“We can’t afford to relax. Our task is to protect the camp.”
Franz, hearing their conversation, looked at Augustus and said:“Don’t let fear control you. We’ll manage. Together.”His words were concise, but full of confidence.
August nodded, trying to regain his optimism.“You’re right, Franz. We can do it. We’re not alone.”But even his attempts to regain his wakefulness could not completely extinguish the anxiety that still lived in his heart.
Shortly after breakfast, the commander gathered all the fighters for a meeting. He talked about plans for the day, the need to strengthen positions and possible movements of the enemy. Despite his confident words, August felt the tension growing around him.“We have to be on the lookout,”he reminded his friends when they returned to work.
During the day, they continued to strengthen the trenches and install additional barricades. Every blow of the hammer, every movement of the shovel felt like a step towards safety, but August was more and more immersed in his gloomy thoughts. He tried to find the strength to stay positive, but his fears became more and more intrusive.
“What if they attack us when we don’t expect it?”he asked, turning to Bernadette and Franz.“What if we can’t protect the camp?”
Bernadette, feeling his anxiety, stopped and looked at his friend.“August, we are prepared. We did everything possible to protect ourselves. If they come, we’ll be ready,”he tried to calm him down.
Franz, remaining silent, came closer and put his hand on Augustus’shoulder. It was a simple but supportive action that made August feel a little better. He knew that his friends were nearby, and it gave him strength.
By the end of the day, when the sun began to set, they returned to the camp, tired but determined. August was still struggling with inner fear, but his friends helped him cope with these feelings.
At dinner, when they were sitting around the fire, Bernadette said:“We did everything we could. Now we just have to wait and be ready.”His serious tone reminded them again of what high bets they play.
“I hope it will be over soon,”said August, his voice was quiet, full of sadness.“I don’t like this feeling of expectation.”
Franz, who was silent before, added:“Whatever happens, we will be together. We will not allow fear to force us to disperse.”
With these words, they again felt the connection that united them. Despite fears and uncertainty, they knew that together they could overcome any difficulties. Their friendship became their strength, and every day they only became stronger, ready to meet everything that tomorrow would bring.
The night enveloped the camp, and the silence seemed to be an electrified wait. Bernadette, Franz and August were sitting by the fire, their faces illuminated by dancing lights. Each of them was immersed in their own thoughts, but soon Bernadette decided to have a frank conversation, realising that this could be their last evening together.
«We all know that fear can take over a person if he is not controlled,»he began, looking at his friends.«I can feel him approaching me. But I know I can’t let him get the upper hand. We must remain strong.»
August, who was always more emotional of the three, nodded, but his eyes gave away internal torment.«I want to believe that we can manage. But sometimes it seems to me that we are on the edge of the abyss. What if our efforts lead to nothing?»
Franz, silent and reserved, looked at August. He felt that his own fears were beginning to manifest, but he did not want to show it. Instead, he said,«We did everything we could. Each of us plays a role. Bernadette is our leader, August is our heart, and I... I just want you to know that you are not alone.»
These words, although they sounded encouraging, left Augustus with a strange feeling. He knew that Franz was always more closed and did not share his thoughts. However, the moment he saw his friends supporting each other, he felt that their ties were stronger than ever.
However, in the depths of Franz’s soul was tormented by doubts. He felt that his devotion began to fluctuate. While Bernadette and Augustus relied on each other, he was gripped by fear and the desire to survive at any cost. He remembered how his family betrayed him in the past, and it left a deep mark on his soul. Now his inner voice whispered that perhaps the only way to escape was to leave his friends behind.
The next day, as they continued to strengthen the camp, Franz noticed that the tension was growing. He began to notice how his friends became more vulnerable, how their fears began to manifest themselves in their actions. This pushed him to the idea that he had to act. He began to take steps that left him on the verge of betrayal.
In the evening, when they gathered again by the fire, August noticed that Franz had become somehow detached.«Are you okay, Franz?»he asked, sincerely worried about his friend.
«Yes, I just think a lot,»he replied, avoiding his gaze. He already had a plan to leave Bernadette and Augusta when the attack begins.
The night before the attack was full of anxiety. Bernadette, feeling the growing tension, gathered her friends for the last conversation.«We have to be ready. If they attack, we must stick together like never before,»he said, his voice full of determination.
Franz nodded, but his thoughts were already far away. He knew that if they faced a real threat, he would have to make a choice. His friendship with Bernadette and August could not rival his instinct of self-preservation.
When the dawn painted the sky in red and orange shades, and the sounds of the approaching attack began to reach the camp, Franz felt his heart pounding. He knew it was time. At the moment when the panic began, he looked at Bernadette and August, they were ready to fight. But instead of joining them, he took a step backwards, deciding to leave them behind.
«Franz, where are you going?»August shouted when his friend began to move in the opposite direction.
«I... I have to check other positions,»Franz replied, his voice betraying him.
The internal conflict tore his soul, but he knew he had to choose survival. He left his friends when they were fighting for their lives. The moment they were trapped and fear seized them, he realised that he had lost not only his friends, but also himself.
With every step away from the camp, he felt his heart getting heavier, and his betrayal, like a shadow, haunted him. The moment he disappeared in the forest, his life changed forever. He was free, but the price of freedom was too high - he became a traitor, losing everything he had ever had.
Franz, running into the darkness of the forest, felt his heart pounding with fear and doubt. Every step distanced him from Bernadette and Augustus, leaving him alone with his own thoughts. His instinct of self-preservation pushed him to survive at any cost, and he knew he was betraying his friends. Images of their friendship were spinning in his head, but now it seemed distant and unattainable.
Meanwhile, in the camp, Bernadette and August were preparing for an inevitable attack. They sought shelter and strengthened their positions, realising that their chances of survival were melting with every minute. Bernadette, who always showed determination and leadership qualities, felt responsible for his friends. He knew that their fate depended on him, and this burden put pressure on his shoulders.
«August, we have to strengthen this area. I saw the enemies moving from the east,»Bernadette said, his voice full of determination. He was always someone who could inspire others, who was not afraid to make difficult decisions. His eyes reflected resilience, but at the same time he felt deep anxiety. He couldn’t let fear take over him, because he realised that it could affect his friends.
August, more sensitive and emotional, looked at Bernadette with admiration, but also with anxiety.«Are you sure we can handle it? I’m always thinking about what might happen,»he admitted, his voice trembling. August was always the one who felt the expectation of fear, who could catch the mood of others. His insecurity and fear made him vulnerable, but he knew he had to be strong for Bernadette.
«We’ll manage, August. The main thing is not to lose hope. If we act together, we have a chance,»Bernadette said, trying to calm his friend down. He realised that his own fears, although they were there, should not have influenced their actions. There was a spark of hope in his heart, and he hoped that he could convey this feeling to Augustus.
When Franz disappeared, Bernadette and August continued to prepare for the attack, but the anxiety for their friend did not leave them.«He has to come back. We can’t stay here without him,»said August, his voice full of anxiety.
«He’ll be back, August. I believe it,»Bernadette replied, although his inner voice whispered to him that something was wrong. He knew that their friendship was important, and even if Franz did not return, they had to continue fighting.
Meanwhile, Franz, having made his choice, began to move towards the enemies. He realised that he was betraying his friends, but the instinct of self-preservation was stronger. Thoughts arose in his head about how he was always in the shadow of Bernadette, how his fears and insecurity prevented him from being who he wanted to be.
Returning to Bernadette and August, they continued to prepare for battle, full of determination, but anxiety grew. Bernadette, feeling responsible for the safety of her friends, tried to concentrate. He couldn’t let fear take over, so he organised protection more actively.
«August, if they attack, remember that we must stick together. Don’t let fear take over you,»he reminded, trying to strengthen his friend’s spirit.
August nodded, but his fears still tormented him.«I’m trying, Bernadette. I don’t want to lose you,»he said, his voice trembling with emotion. He was always the one who sought support from his friends, and now it was especially important.
When the enemies began to approach, Bernadette and August, full of determination, stood shoulder to shoulder, ready to defend their camp. They knew that they had to fight not only for their lives, but also for the friendship that bound them.
At that moment, when fear and tension reached their peak, Bernadette, realising that they had a great responsibility, remembered that their connection is what makes them stronger. He glanced at August, and his eyes reflected his determination.
«We can’t give up. We must protect each other, no matter what,»he said, feeling his words giving confidence to August.
But at that time, Franz, being on the side of the enemies, realised that he had made a mistake. He saw his friends fighting, and his heart was bursting with guilt. The moment he betrayed them, he lost not only their trust, but also a part of himself. His fears and uncertainty became his enemies, and he realised that his choice would turn against him.
In the camp, Bernadette and August, fighting with all their might, continued to hope that Franz would return. Each of their movements was full of determination, and even in the midst of chaos, they knew that together they could overcome any difficulties. Their friendship was their strength, and they were ready to fight to the end.
Fighting side by side, Bernadette and August felt their friendship becoming their main weapon. Every blow of the enemy and every scream raised their fighting spirit. Despite the fear, they were not going to give up.
Bernadette was a leader by nature. His confidence and determination inspired those around him. He always took responsibility, even when it was hard. There was a spark of hope in his heart, and he sincerely believed that they would be able to cope with any threat. But at that moment, he also felt that the burden of responsibility was pressing on him. He couldn’t afford to seem weak in front of Augustus.
August was more emotional and sensitive than his friend. His heart was open to the world, and he felt every emotion, every drop of fear and hope that hovered around them. He often wondered if they could survive, and his thoughts took him far from reality. However, when Bernadette spoke, his confidence helped Augustus cope with anxiety.«We’ll manage as long as we’re together,»he repeated to himself, trying to focus on the present.
When the enemies began to approach, Bernadette confidently directed her friends to the fortifications.«August, stay close to me. We will protect this place as a whole,»he said, feeling that their unity is their main strength. His voice was full of determination, and August, hearing this, felt a surge of hope.
The enemies began to attack, and Bernadette and August fought with all their might. Every blow of the enemies was full of rage, but they did not retreat, determined to protect each other.«We can’t give up, August! Hold on!»Bernadette shouted when one of the enemies tried to sneak to them.
«I won’t let them take you!»August replied, his voice sounding with determination. He knew that they had to continue to fight despite the growing tension.
Meanwhile, Franz, being on the side of the enemies, watched his friends fight, and his heart was torn with guilt. He understood that he had betrayed them, but now, looking at their struggle, he also realised that he could not stand aside. He felt his fears and betrayal tormented his soul, and the moment he thought about returning to his friends, he was stopped by the thought that they were already in danger.
In the camp, Bernadette and August continued to fight, but their strength was exhausted. Each new enemy increased the chances of defeat.«We must stick together, as we have always done!»exclaimed Bernadette, but his voice sounded weak. There was a feeling of hopelessness inside him.
«Bernadette, I...»August began, but his words were interrupted by a loud hum when the enemies attacked again. He felt that his body was beginning to give in, but he could not afford to give up.
One of the enemies, seeing their vulnerability, rushed forward. Bernadette rushed to him to protect Augustus, and at that moment he felt his shoulder pierced by a sharp pain. He fell to his knees, his eyes met August, who, despite his own wounds, tried to get to him.
«Bernadette! No!»August shouted, but his voice was drowned out by the sounds of the fight. He rushed to his friend, but the enemies had already surrounded them.
Gathering his last strength, Bernadette said:«We’ll manage, August. We’ve always managed together.»His eyes reflected determination, but also fear. He knew there was little time left.
August, feeling that his friend was bleeding, could not hold back tears.«I can’t lose you, Bernadette. We have to get out of here!»he exclaimed, but his own strength was exhausted.
At that moment, when the enemies began to advance, Bernadette and August, full of determination, stood shoulder to shoulder, ready to fight the enemies until their last breath. Their hearts were beating in unison, and they knew they couldn’t let fear take over them.
But despite their efforts, the enemies were too strong. At the last moment, when everything seemed hopeless, they both felt that their strength was dry up. Bernadette and August fought to the last, their friendship and love for each other were their only weapon.
«We are together, until the end,»Bernadette whispered when the enemies began to cover them. August nodded, his eyes full of tears, but they both knew it was the end. They fought until their last breath, not wanting to part, full of hope and love.
And when the enemies struck the last blow, their hearts stopped in unison.
